Ho Chi Minh 109 – Kem Bach Dang Ice Cream

Kem Bach Dang Ice Cream has been around for over 20 years and famous for its freshly made ice cream. It is located along the main road of Le Loi not far away from the Opera House. I wanted to try the highly recommended Durian Ice Cream so we stopped by for a quick dessert even though it was bright and early in the morning. My Durian Ice Cream (VND60,000) was fantastic although not everyone will like its strong and thick flavour. My friend ordered the Coconut Ice Cream (VND75,000) but she said it was just average. Overall, ice cream was good (at least for my Durian Ice Cream), lots of local flavour to choose from and price was reasonable.
Address: 26-28 Le Loi Street, District 1, Ho Chi Minh
(Note: Kem Bach Dang has 2 branches across the street from each other, at the junction of Le Loi Street and Pasteur Street)

  1. I went there a few years back while staying in Ho Chi Minh, and hated it. It was dingy, dusty and all round unpleasant. The ice cream was nothing to write home about either, no different to what you'd buy at the shops, and even fewer varieties. Did we go to the same place?

  2. I'm not sure if it is the same one but I found the Durian ice cream quite alright and for the price I paid I wont complain about it. Cheers.
