Food For Thought 194 – Favola Italian Restaurant @ Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur

Right before the Raya long weekend, the girls and I went for a fine dining dinner at Favola Italian Restaurant at Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur. For only RM69 nett, we got to sample 3 courses of signature meals from Favola. The place was packed with diners even at 8.30pm when we got there. They were a little understaffed probably because of the Raya long holiday coming up so it took some time to get our orders sorted out, and our buy 1 free 1 cocktails took a long time to arrive too. Luckily they gave us very nice and hot complimentary breads to line our stomach while waiting for our dinner and we girls started our gossip session just to kill some time…

At last our appetizers were here. We ordered everything on the menu to share, since each course has 4 different choices to choose and there were 5 of us. I like my Rucola e Salsiccia Anatra especially the duck sausages were so deliciously paired with the Arugula. The Caprese and Mushroom Soup were very extremely good too (I didn’t try the Minestrone soup cause I never like it).
Caprese – marinated trio of tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella cheese, fresh basil and balsamic emulsion

Rucola e Salsiccia Anatra – Arugula, sliced pear, gorgonzola cheese, duck sausage and toasted walnut

Zuppa Di Fungi Calabrese a.k.a. Mushroom Soup
Then came our main courses. We ordered an extra pasta, Anatra Affumicata (RM50+) since UOB Credit Card has 30% off the ala carte food menu. The rest of the main courses, Beef Lasagna, Favola Pizza, Grilled Chicken Pizza all turned out very well, except for the Prawn Pasta which were slightly bland. My favourite were the Beef Lasagna and the Grilled Chicken Pizza with white cheese sauce, butter poached potato, egg and rocket salad. They were just too yummy! Also, the portions were generous and we couldn’t finish all the food on the table.

Beef Lasagna – My favourite of the night

Favola Pizza – topped with tomatoes, basil pesto, slices of tomatoes and a generous amount of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese

Gamberetti ai Pinoli – Pasta with prawns, chilli, garlic, pine nuts, mushrooms in extra virgin olive oil

Grilled Chicken Pizza

Our desserts for the night were Double Espresso Tart and Italian Gelato. The Double Espresso Tart was too bitter to my liking but the the Gelato were absolutely heavenly.

Overall, dinner turned out to be one of the best we had recently, the food were very good and the price were alright for a 5-star hotel restaurant. RM69 nett for the set menu is definitely worth every penny. Also, the other best thing is UOB Credit Card gets 30% off all ala carte food menu until 31st December 2012. The cocktail price were very expensive though, although we used a buy 1 free 1 voucher, but still quite expensive for cocktail lovers like me. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for any Italian food lovers.
